Cellule d’Intervention Metamkine in NYC in September

We are pleased as punch that the legendary Cellule d’Intervention Metamkine will be making a very rare Northeast USA appearance on September 18. Yes, we wish it were in Philly, but you'll have to believe us when we say we tried but ultimately found it simply too hard to procure a Revox 77b and various specific models of projector. But still! We'll be road-tripping it up to NYC come September 18, as Cellule performs as part of the Crossing the Line Festival, sponsored by the French Institute Alliance Française. The Cellule performance is co-sponsored by Anthology Film Archives. Info here.

Classic Bernhard Günter albums for free download

Bernhard Günter has made many of his records and chunks of his Trente Oiseaux catalog available for download. The most exciting part is that a number of albums are free, including several Günter classics. I HIGHLY recommend "UNIVERS TEMPOREL ESPOIR," a brilliant and revelatory record that basically blew my impressionable young mind when I first heard it in 1999-ish. Browse here, though I must admit that we at PSF HQ have been having some trouble extracting files. Still, this is exciting. Günter was one of the pioneers and undisputed masters of exquisitely quiet electronic music, and he was undoubtedly a major influence on a certain generation of electronic musicians and improvisers.

Just to dovetail with the previous post, here's a Paris Transatlantic interview with Günter. His allmusic entry is here.

New Interviews

Paris Transatlantic, a great interview and reviews (and editorial) website has posted lengthy and thoughtful interviews with recent PSF visitee Mattin and pal Nate Wooley. Nate pulls a hat-trick by also scoring a q&a over at bagatellen. This is what Nate looks like when he sweats:

Video of workshop with Eddie Prévost & John Butcher

We at PSF have been talking about a workshop for a little bit now (this is where I intended to have a link to our interview with phrequency.com, but it seems to be down). Here's a brief video of veteran London improvisers Eddie Prevost and John Butcher working with some students in what we assume is Israel. Not a ton of material, but some great small insights and guidance:
