A recent piece in
the Wire reminded me of Seymour Wright's fantastic 2008 solo release, a very fine record "improvised and about the saxophone - music, history and technique – actual and potential." He uses fans, radios, and maybe some other extensions to simultaneously explore and extend the saxophone's history, but always in a fascinating and musical way. The recording is available fully free at
seymourwright.com. Download it!
I also see that the Wire is offering some previously unreleased Wright tracks for streaming
here.
